Summary:
Liquid Web Designs will organize a team of Leaders and
Supporters to complete the Army
10 Miler held in Washington DC, October 4th, 2009. The objective of the race is to raise funds,
awareness and support for a 6-week Young Entrepreneur
Bootcamp training program to be held Fall 2009.
Objective:
Our objective for the Bootcamp Students is
to create an intensive learning environment, led by actual entrepreneurs,
designed to educate and inspire infant businesses owners and cultivate
a new generation of motivated, self-sufficient community Leaders.
Our objective for race Leaders and program
Supporters is to unify through a difficult yet attainable "out
of comfort zone" activity
to give back to the community while promoting
teamwork, service and health.
History:
In 2007, Edward Rosemond, President and CEO of Liquid Web Designs,
focused on a goal with the sole purpose of 'giving back' to his
community. On a whim, he decide to compete in the Army 10 Miler,
the Baltimore Marathon and the Marine Corps Marathon, all within
a 3 week span. The objective was to raise funds and awareness for
the then "Young Entrepreneur Summit." The idea was based
on the concept that, even though Ed had never done anything like
this, seemingly unattainable goals can be achieved through hard
work, dedication, determination and focus. Ed could not write a
check large enough to change anyone's life but could pledge an
effort intended to be much more powerful.
The Cause:
As a lifetime entrepreneur with little formal entrepreneurial education,
it has always been an ongoing challenge to learn how to maintain
a successful business. Resources are available through plenty public
and private sources but guidance regarding if, when and how to
utilize these resources is not so readily available. The knowledge
and experience amassed by the network that Ed has built over the
years addresses this issue and is at the heart of the Bootcamp
program. It is our strategy to leverage this network to equip a
select group of young adults with critical business skills necessary
to become tomorrows' leaders

FAQs:
What's 10 for 10?
Each race participant will be
tasked with prospecting 10 support team members, complete the 10
mile course all for the benefit of 10 young entrepreneurs. So really
it could be called "10
for 10 for 10."
I can't run because of injury, health or age reasons. Can I still
participate?
Yes! We have a team who will be power-walking the
race. All of the benefits with none of the impact!
I don't know if this is something I am physically capable of doing.
How can I figure that out?
Come out and discuss your concerns with
one of the two consulting sports medicine doctors available.
I'm not in shape and have never done this type of thing before.
Can I do this?
The purpose of participating is to get out of your
comfort zone and give. Very few, if any, of your fellow participants
have participated in a road race before and, most likely, are not
in this type of shape themselves. We will provide a training plan
to gradually get you prepared. The race is a long way off (October
4th, 2009), so there is plenty of time to prepare.
What are the costs?
Registration for the Army 10 Miler opens on April 1st and
traditionally fills up in three days. Yes, 30,000 racers will max out
the field in 3 WEEKS! This year's entry fees have not yet been published
but the fee for the 2008 Army Ten Miler was $47.
For the Bootcamp we are looking to raise at least $5000 to cover
fees and expenses associated with organizing and conducting the Bootcamp.
All proceeds go directly to Bootcamp expenses.
What are the deadlines?
Our team kickoff meeting is TBD. The Army
10 Miler registration date is April 1st, 2009 and the race is October
4th, 2009.
What's the training schedule like?
In conjunction
with our sports medicine doctors we will use online and other running
training resources and preparation guidelines. Training is made up
of individual workouts during the week and a community run on select
Saturdays leading up until October 4th.
